General Hospital (GH) recap and spoilers for Monday, January 15 indicate some interesting plot twists in the land of Port Charles. The show starts with Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) lurking in the hallways, as Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) pays a visit to Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober).

She reminds the battered and bruised convict that he pretended to be a priest, overheard her confession, and then urged her to come clean about her SEC secret.

Nina tells him that she’s lost everything, both her marriage and her relationship with her daughter Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) are at risk.

Cyrus tells her that healing in the aftermath will make her feel better; however, Nina reminds him that as a man of God, his religion is all about making amends.

Cyrus backpedals at this statement and says that he’s also a victim of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and deserves justice.

Nina proposes that she and he make a deal; it was implied that she would offer a monetary amount so that he would drop the charges against Sonny.

At the end of the day, she told him she has things he may want in exchange for dropping Sonny’s charges. It’s unclear what their exact deal was, but Cyrus smiled at the idea of this and agreed.

Nina then walked out of his hospital room, so it looks as if Sonny may not have to worry about prison time for beating up Cyrus, after all.

Meanwhile, Dex lingered around Cyrus’s hospital room while Nina was in there. He dressed up as a temp orderly and *almost* got caught, but he came up with a smooth explanation for the nearby nurse who initially questioned him.

As Dex patiently waited for Nina’s visit with Cyrus to end, so he could go through with Sonny’s plan, the mob boss got a visit from his daughter, Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi). Kristina stopped to check up on her dad in light of everything, and Sonny assured her he was okay.

Sonny also assured her that he wasn’t going to go to jail, which was a bit of a relief because Kristina made it clear just how much of a rock of support her dad is to her.

During their time together, Sonny has a flashback of Friday’s episode where he orders Dex to kill Cyrus. Still, as their discussion carries on, Kristina highlights what a kind, sweet, human Sonny is with a code of ethics who always “does the right thing”.

It seems as if during their talk, Sonny has a change of heart about the plan to ax Cyrus. After Kristina leaves, Sonny is seen desperately calling Dex to tell him to not go through his initial orders. Unfortunately, Sonny gets Dex’s voicemail.

Across town, Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) and Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) reunite, with far less fury than most fans may have expected.

In a shocking turn of events, Spencer apologizes for allowing Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) to come between them.

For those who may recall, during Nik’s absence, it was revealed that Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) manipulated Esme into breaking their family apart, and Spencer felt as if he made it easy for her to do so.

Nikolas apologized too, and when Ace Cassadine (Jay and Joey Clay) woke up, Spencer brought him down to meet their father, and the three had a beautiful bonding moment.

Still, before their scene ended, Spencer begged his father to stay in town and fight the charges against him.

He suggested hiring Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy); however, Nikolas made it crystal clear that he wasn’t the only one leaving town and that he planned on taking both of his sons with him.

Over at the courthouse, it’s arraignment day for Esme, and before Laura Collins (Genie Francis) enters the courtroom, she once again begs Ava Jerome (Maura West) to drop the charges. Ava refuses, and Laura goes in to check on Esme.

The mayor has hired her brother, Martin Grey (Micheal E. Knight) to represent the young mom, and he heads over to Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos) to strike up a deal on Esme’s behalf. He tells her that if they can come up with an arrangement, he’ll encourage his client to plead guilty.

If they can’t strike a deal, he’ll encourage her to plead not guilty, and a lengthy trial will be in their future; one of which could cost the Port Charles’s taxpayers a fortune, and might go Esme’s way, considering that she suffers from amnesia, her prior Wyndemere kidnapping, and all she’s been through.

While the two lawyers are talking, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) enters the courthouse, attending the hearing to support Ava.

Trina learns that Ava is adamant about Esme getting a little justice for what she did to Trina in the past, and Trina updates Ava on her Paris plans with Spencer.

Ava’s over the moon about Trina heading to Paris with Spence and can’t wait for Esme to get what she deserves.

Interestingly enough, when the court hearing proceeds, the judge asks Esme what her plea is, and she says, guilty.

This prompts the judge to order her six months of probation and no jail time, much to Ava’s outrage.

Lastly, Josslyn Jacks (Courtney Fulk) heads to Adam Wright’s (Josh Benard) dorm room, only for his dormmate to tell her he left, with a bottle of vodka and his guitar.

Joss believes she knows where he is, and finds him in a park, drunk on a bench, strumming his guitar. She wants to explain herself, but Adam refuses to listen. He doesn’t want nor need her help. He believes nothing will change in his life.

He goes on to tell her that she “doesn’t know him” or what his problems are about. Just as Joss suggests to go back to the dorm, get a good night’s sleep, and figure things out tomorrow, Adam faints.

As he collapses, she finds an empty packet of pills. She panics, and tries to wake him up, and instantly calls 9-1-1. The scene ends with paramedics eventually arriving and hauling Adam off to the hospital.

General Hospital spoilers note that that drama will continue to roll on this week, so fans won’t want to miss a single episode.
