“Power Plays and Unexpected Alliances: GH Recap for January 18th Keeps Fans on the Edge!”
General Hospital (GH) recap and spoilers for Thursday, January 18 note today’s show offered plenty of drama. The episode opened where Wednesday’s left off: with Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) having a one-on-one with Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell).
Carly starts off saying their conversation feels like a déjà vu; after it was about a year ago when Michael confronted Carly about not telling them that Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) was Willow Corinthos’s (Katelyn MacMullen) bio mom.
During the conversation, Michael acknowledges he was a hypocrite, but Carly also tells her son she understands. At the end of the day, they both should’ve learned that the truth always has a way of surfacing.
As the tension softens, Michael notes that Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) lost his cool, and Carly states that he’s been struggling since returning home from Pentonville.
He hasn’t been the same. Michael knows firsthand how prison can change someone, and he believes that if Drew seeks someone to talk to, he can get past his trauma.
The two end things on a good note, with Michael thanking Carly for accepting his apology, and her telling him that she’ll always love and support him, no matter what.
The nanny interrupts stating that Wiley Corinthos (Viron Weaver) wants his dad upstairs. When he comes back down, they talk about how vile Nina is.
Carly points out that now that she’s been ousted from the family, they won’t have to deal with her anymore.
Michael questions if Carly wants revenge; however, she believes that peace of mind is more important. With this SEC reveal, she can place Nina in the rearview mirror and never look back.
Speaking of Drew, he storms into Charlie’s pub and orders a drink. Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) happens to be at the bar and can tell he’s having a rough go.
The two start talking, and a lot of what Drew is saying about anger resonates with Anna. She also shares her recent woes, and how shooting Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez) was the worst moment of her life.
Anna states that being betrayed has left her feeling stupid and naïve, but angry most of all. She tells him that anger is a byproduct of fear.
After talking to Anna, Drew believes he needs to get the toxicity out of his life. Then Carly shows up from her chat with Michael and joins the two of them.
Anna offers her condolences over Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) and then heads to another table to wait for a friend.
Carly catches Drew up on her conversation with Michael. She admits that she’s had the same mishaps as her son, in the past.
Drew makes it clear that he still has to talk with Michael, but most of his anger is directed towards Nina.
Carly points out that the silver lining in the SEC secret reveal is that they can put Nina behind them; however, Drew notes that he can’t, and it’s clear he has revenge on his mind.
Meanwhile, back at the Q mansion, Willow comes home after work she gets into with Michael about the SEC secret.
She tells him how Darly found out, and while most of her anger is directed toward her bio mom, this doesn’t exonerate Michael’s role in the entire thing. Forgiveness will take time.
While they are bantering, Wiley comes downstairs and interrupts them. He asks if “Dad” will be home tonight, and when they can all be together again.
Across town, Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) enjoys some dinner with TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow). He updates her about Kristina Corinthos-Davis’s (Kate Mansi) IVF procedure, and how he may already be on his way to being a dad.
As the two continue to talk, Jordan’s phone is bombarded with alerts, and TJ questions who is blowing up her mobile device.
She comes clean and notes she’s working on a side assignment to find out who shot Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner).
After one more notification, she tells him she has to head out to follow a lead. TJ says goodbye and to be careful.
Back at Charlie’s, Anna’s grabbed a table, and it turns out the “friend” she is waiting for is Jordan. She calls her and leaves a message, wondering where she is.
Flash forward, and Jordan is on the docks, on the phone, when she agrees to meet with someone as they can figure out where “the gun” from the bullet that shot Curtis is from.
When she gets off the phone is cornered by two mysterious men who haul her off somewhere unknown.
Over at the hospital, Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) storms into Cyrus Renault’s (Jeff Kober) room. She’s looking for help and she explains that Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) has taken Ace Cassadine (Jay and Joey Clay), and Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) allowed it to happen.
Cyrus questions why she hasn’t called the police. Esme tells him that Spencer is threatening to have her old charges brought back up if she does, and again Cyrus questions why she would be worried unless her memories surfaced.
She lies and states Laura Collins (Genie Francis) is the town mayor, and the case would likely be compromised since Nik is her son. Cyrus doesn’t buy that one bit, as he knows how great Laura was to Esme.
Regardless, Esme’s looking for assistance and Cyrus deduces through their chat that she isn’t necessarily worried about Ace’s safety, it’s an issue of proprietorship.
Still, he agrees to offer his help, and although his cash flow is low, he does still know people he can ask some questions to who may have answers.
Esme asks what he plans to do, and he notes make a phone call and pray. Esme, upset that Cyrus isn’t doing more, storms out of his room in a huff.
Shortly after the fact, Cyrus picks up the phone, dials someone, and urges that they visit him.
Lastly, Kristina is sitting in her sweats, clearly trying to take it easy after her IVF procedure in her apartment. Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) pays her a surprise visit and asks her why she hasn’t seen much of her as of late.
Kristina comes clean and tells her that pulling her hand away while they were out and about in the town square during the holidays really upset her. Blaze notes she’s always kept her private life private, but she’s open to working on this.
Kristina notes she’s open to compromise; however, after all her struggles she needs to live life according to her truth. She also tells her about her IVF, and that she may be pregnant; so, a relationship with Blaze may be complicated.
Kristina decides now is not the time for romance, considering everything that’s going on with them both, and escorts Blaze to the door.
After some time, Kristina sits on the couch, while talking to (possibly) her unborn niece or nephew growing inside of her. She tells them that she wonders if she made the right choice.
Just then, there’s a knock at the door, and it’s Blaze. She tells Kristina that things might not work out between them, but they’ll never know if they don’t try. Kristina agrees and lets her in.
Blaze starts making dinner with the healthy groceries she bought for their meal, in her bag.
General Hospital spoilers note that things could get complicated between these ladies, but it looks like Blaze and Kristina are willing to give romance a shot!
