General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Tuesday, January 9, reveals that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) had second thoughts about visiting Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) to offer his condolences and thought maybe he should go, but she ran into his arms and hugged him.

Once Carly invited Sonny inside Kelly’s, he offered to help tell Donna Corinthos (Scarlett Spears) and Avery Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola) about Bobbie Spencer’s (Jacklyn Zeman) passing.

Although Bobbie’s relationship with Sonny was complicated, he admitted to admiring her bond with Carly and using it as positive inspiration in his own relationship with Mike Corbin (Max Gail).

Carly reflected on how glad she was to have Drew Cain’s (Cameron Mathison) support since it’d been a difficult night. Sonny acknowledged that Nina Corinthos’ (Cynthia Watros) arrival must’ve made it tougher.

Carly tried to dodge the topic of Nina, but she assured Sonny that she wanted him to be happy and was sorry if he wasn’t.

Once Carly saw Sonny’s injured knuckles, he admitted he lost his temper and that it didn’t help. Carly thanked Sonny for showing up and understanding her, so he urged her to lock up as he left.

Carly indeed locked the door behind Sonny and gazed upward as she told Bobbie that she loved her.

At The Invader, Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) showed Gregory Chase (Gregory Harrison) pics from their skydiving adventure and suggested getting certified so they could jump solo.

Gregory had other items he wanted to check off his bucket list instead and mostly just wanted to talk about the lip loc, which he apologized for.

Although Gregory thought Alexis was intelligent and easy on the eyes, he was sorry for putting her in that position and felt her side of it was a sympathy kiss.

When Alexis balked, Gregory wondered if she would’ve kissed him back if he hadn’t been sick.

Alexis couldn’t answer based on hypotheticals since she couldn’t undo what she knew about Gregory’s illness.

In the end, Gregory admitted he needed Alexis to stay his friend and be his constant.

At the PCPD, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) summoned Ava Jerome (Maura West) since Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) had confessed to breaking in Wyndemere.

Laura Collins (Genie Francis) tried to play mediator and hoped that Ava would hear Esme out so that they could hopefully keep this out of court.

Esme admitted she broke in Wyndemere in hopes of revisiting the place she was held captive and getting her memory back.

Ava wondered if it worked, but Esme insisted she was as lost as ever and expressed remorse over the break-in.

After Ava decided Esme would only get a slap on the wrist anyway, she told Dante that she wanted to press charges. Esme flipped out as Dante arrested her since Laura said she’d go free.

Laura tried to get through to Ava, who stood her ground on letting Esme face consequences. As a panicked Esme was led away in handcuffs, Laura looked upset.

At GH, Marshall Ashford (Robert Gossett) blew up at Stella Henry (Vernee Watson) for not being positive enough about Curtis Ashford’s (Donnell Turner) surgery.

However, Marshall shared a private conversation with TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow) and admitted Stella was just saying everything he was thinking.

TJ downplayed the risks and acted like Curtis knew what he was doing, so Marshall eventually apologized to Stella.

Stella insisted it was fine, but she became uncomfortable when Marshall brought up the spark between them and questioned her about it.

Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) also confessed to Stella about her opportunity to study at the Sorbonne and how Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) agreed to come with her.

Although Trina assumed Stella would say she should stay in Port Charles and focus on family, Stella urged her to take advantage of this opportunity since Curtis had a big support system.

Meanwhile, a doctor spoke with Curtis and Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) about the experimental procedure, which had been a success for three patients out of the 25 it had been tried on.

Portia grew nervous about those odds and the risks, so Curtis got her to open up to him privately and insisted he wouldn’t do it if they weren’t on the same page.

Curtis hinted about how even if it didn’t work for him, the research could help someone else down the road.

That said, Curtis insisted Portia and the rest of his family were the most important thing.

Curtis nearly backed out of the procedure when the doctor returned, but Portia assured him that her husband was ready.

As Curtis was wheeled to the operating room, he got plenty of support from Marshall, Stella, Trina, TJ and Portia.

In the OR, Curtis’ medical team began working to hopefully help him walk again.

General Hospital spoilers say Curtis’ future is at stake, so stay tuned for updates on whether good news is brewing.
