General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) cornered Ava Jerome (Maura West) in dramatic fashion and offered an apology, so what does that mean for this pairing’s future?
On the January 3 episode, Nikolas expressed regret over how things had gone down between them, but he also urged Ava to see that they were victims of manipulation.
Nikolas insisted they were both manipulated by Austin Gatlin-Holt (Roger Howarth) and his boss that night, but Ava argued that their problems went back much further than that.
That led to a deeper discussion about all the ways they’d hurt each other – including Nikolas’ cheating.
However, Nikolas argued that things went south because of Ryan Chamberlain’s (Jon Lindstrom) plot with Esme Prince (Avery Pohl).
It seemed like Nikolas was speaking from the heart as he talked about his love for Ava and disagreed with her about them being doomed from the beginning.
Ava feels like they had a toxic love that was rotten at the core and never going to work.
Plus, Nikolas threatened to take Avery Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola) away from her, so Ava declared there was no coming back from that.
Even so, it was a remarkably civil and mature conversation all things considered.
It was easy to see the potential for Ava and Nikolas to fall back into bed as well as back into each other’s hearts.
Was that conversation really about closure or could the show be setting the stage for a new beginning instead?
Adam Huss’ version of Nikolas seems to have onscreen chemistry with Ava, so that’s worth mentioning.
Maybe it’d be a good idea to give Ava and Nikolas one more try now that Huss is in the role.
Ava can claim there’s no coming back from Nikolas’ kidnapping threat, but people have done far worse and gotten back together on this show. That’s nothing in the grand scheme of things!
Although Ava tried to act like their love story was too twisted to survive, some GH couples are just built that way.
That’s part of what makes watching soaps so entertaining.
There are always some sweet couples to swoon over and some spicy couples to bring the fire, even when their love might not be the healthiest option.
Ava and Nikolas definitely fall into the latter category, so could the show let them surrender to temptation despite their issues? Could Nikolas and Ava get one more chance at romance?
Perhaps the plot to take down Esme could be part of what reunites Ava and Nikolas in the end.
