“Ties that Bind: Hope’s Heartfelt Appeal for Brooke’s Blessing with Thomas”
Hope can ask. Will B&B’s Brooke ever give her approval?
In The Bold and the Beautiful recap for Tuesday, January 16, 2024, Hope and Brooke had a deep conversation that resulted in Hope wanting to know if Brooke could ever approve of her and Thomas.
Bold and the Beautiful Recap Highlights
In addition, both Brooke and Carter caused a couple of awkward moments. RJ made a big decision as he and Luna enjoyed each other’s company. And Thomas and Ridge had their own deep conversation about his relationship with Hope. Now let’s dig deeper into this episode.
Awkward Interruptions and Big Decisions
At Forrester, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) walked in on RJ (Joshua Hoffman) and Luna (Lisa Yamada) kissing. She immediately got out of there and reported her awkward moment to Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor). A slightly cranky Ridge noted how there was yet another office romance going on involving one of his sons. Although, Brooke and Ridge were the ultimate office romance (watch a Brooke / Ridge video tribute here).
As a result of Brooke walking in on RJ and Luna kissing, the young designer decided to make quite the leap. He admitted to his girlfriend that he wanted to get his own place. Right now he lives with his parents, but originally, moving in with them was a necessity. It felt healing. So privacy was his new number-one priority (other than Luna, of course).
Another awkward moment happened when Carter walked in on them. He then wisely advised the pair to lock the door next time. Later, when they were alone, Luna gushed over RJ and he gushed right back. They were both in a good place and on the same page.
The Hard Sell
At Hope’s, Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) continued the hard sell with Hope (Annika Noelle), reiterating how he’s changed and loved her with every fiber. For her part, Hope let Thomas know she knew he was a changed man. However, that may not be enough here. She needed time to make sense of everything he told her regarding the night Emma Barber (Nia Sioux) died.
Later, at Forrester, Thomas talked to Ridge about his relationship with Hope. He couldn’t help it but he was falling more and more and more in love with her every day. Ridge was proud of his son’s progression as a good person. But Thomas had doubts. He didn’t want to mess it all up.
Also, Thomas felt like everybody was against their relationship, including Brooke. Thomas knew Brooke was entitled to her opinion. Ridge communicated with his son saying Brooke’s concerns with Thomas are much more about her being protective of Hope.
Blessings and Acceptance, Please
Ridge and Brooke didn’t learn about the new developments with Xander (Adain Bradley) and Emma from Thomas and Hope. Instead, Hope admitted to Brooke that she and Thomas were having difficult conversations about his dark past. Brooke wanted to believe he was a changed man. But she said she thinks it would be difficult to commit yourself to him knowing what happened in the past.
Brooke urged her daughter to consider what was best for her children. A frustrated Hope said Thomas had changed. And what makes this time different is that what he’s saying was not empty words or platitudes. He backed up his words with action. Brooke wasn’t so ready to believe. But she did say to trust her instincts.
Hope did her own raving — she said Thomas was an exceptional designer and father, and he loved her unconditionally. And she basically told Brooke to get on board. She needed her mom to stop fighting this. Once and for all, Hope wanted her mom to accept Thomas and Hope. Because who knew what their future might be?
