What if Rocco decides he prefers Sonny on GH?
Dante Falconeri and Sonny’s General Hospital relationship has run the gamut from Sonny shooting undercover cop Dante in cold blood before finding out they were father and son to cop Dante looking every which way but at his criminal father doing criminal things to Dante finally arresting Sonny — for a split second — for beating up Cyrus. They’ll get past this the same way they’ve gotten past every other conflict over the past few decades. But is there one development that could splinter the duo for good?
How old is Rocco (Finn Francis Carr) now? He was born in 2013, so 10. But, the actor is 15, so let’s assume Rocco is the same. Fifteen is the prime soap opera rebellion age. How does the son of a cop rebel in Port Charles? Why, by emulating his mobster grandpa, natch. (Kind of how Lucky Spencer, after a childhood with a dad who never believed human laws applied to him swung in the other direction to become a cop.) We can either keep Rocco 15 and ramp up slowly, or go for a quick case of Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome and make him 18, which is when the real fun begins.
Instead of going to college, joining the police academy, getting a job, or joining Grandma Laura’s (Genie Francis) administration through one of those pretend positions politicians dole out to relatives, what if Rocco hightails it over to Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) and applies for a Junior Thug internship. Sure, Sonny will huff and puff at first about how no, wrong, he can’t, he mustn’t. Sonny loves Rocco too much to initiate him into The Life.
But then, Sonny will remember how much he enjoys being blindly worshipped. And, Jason (Steve Burton) isn’t around to do it (little does he know). Rocco might fill the position nicely. Now let’s see, does he have any black T-shirts lying around? Dante, we suspect, will be less chill. This is the last thing he wants for his son. And it just might be the last straw with his father.
