The B&B cards were always stacked against her.
After two years as Taylor Hayes on The Bold and the Beautiful, and garnering a 2023 Daytime Emmy nomination as Outstanding Supporting Actress, Krista Allen was axed from the CBS soap. Sadly, it’s not a surprise, because Allen and Taylor were doomed from the get go.
Krista Allen: In and Out
Since Hunter Tylo’s original run on the show as a contract player and prominent leading lady, beginning in 1990 through 2014, Taylor’s been downgraded to in-and-out status. Over the past nine years, she’s become someone who shows up in town as needed for a specific story twist. Think back to 2018-2019 when she was instrumental in the baby Beth caper that involved Wayne Brady’s duplicitous Dr. Buckingham. Once the plot wrapped, she was out — her work on the soap done.
Second Chances
When Allen took over the character in 2019, the promise for more was there. She signed a three-year contract, signifying a commitment from the show and the actress. Obviously, there was a storyline planned, and it played out for two years – reviving the Brooke vs. Taylor “competition” for Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and reigniting the Logans vs. Forresters “battle.”
Same Old Story
However in the end, only one woman was going to end up with Ridge, and that woman was always going to be Brooke. Yes, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Taylor decided to cast him aside for a while and go it solo as secure single women, during which they even became best friends.
But viewers knew that was never going to last. Eventually, Ridge would reconcile with Brooke, his destiny, leaving Taylor out in the cold. And since the soap never provided Taylor with any other viable love options, she was doomed from the get go; destined to be shipped out of town and off the soap, after the latest incarnation of a Brooke-Ridge-Taylor triangle wrapped up.
