The Bold and the Beautiful recap for Friday, December 22, 2023, showed Finn and Bridget removing Eric from the ventilator.
Bold and the Beautiful Recap Highlights
In addition, Ridge, Steffy, Brooke, and Ridge waited for Eric to open his eyes. Meanwhile, those at Eric’s house created a festive atmosphere by decorating the Christmas tree and reflecting on the man they love so much. Now, let’s dig deeper into the details of what went down.
The Calm Before the Storm
At Eric’s bedside, everybody reacted to Eric (John McCook) stirring. Bridget (Ashley Jones) and Finn (Tanner Novlan) recognized that this was a good sign, which made it the perfect time to remove the ventilator. After all, they don’t want infection to set in, and, anyway, the rapid eye movement means he may be capable of breathing on his own. Machines were needed, but now they’re not, so Finn doesn’t want anyone to lose hope. Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) stated emphatically that nobody was giving up. They prayed for a Christmas miracle.
At Eric’s mansion, Katie (Heather Tom), Zende (Delon de Metz), RJ (Joshua Hoffman), and Luna (Lisa Yamada) decorated the Christmas tree and the house at Donna’s (Jennifer Gareis) request. And, of course, they continued to contemplate life without Eric. Katie felt making the house festive may be the boost Eric needs to bring him back to them. Meanwhile, Zende didn’t feel like it was the holidays without Eric. Ultimately, he didn’t want this time of the year to turn into a painful memory for future holidays. He hoped his grandad would make a full recovery.
Healing Thoughts
At the mansion, the group decided the power of positive thinking was the way to go instead of fretting over losing this major influence in their lives. Zende agreed and suggested they put healing thoughts out into the universe. Maybe they should tell stories about Eric.
The sentiment started with Zende. Even though he wasn’t born into this family, he basically won the adoption lottery. From day one, Eric was so welcoming. He must have thought his parents were so crazy, coming back from the honeymoon and throwing an orphan into the mix. Years later, Eric was still so welcoming. When he came back from Europe, the patriarch insisted he live there at the mansion with him. He always knew exactly what to say and how to lift his spirits up. Katie reiterated that Eric’s not going anywhere yet.
A Christmas Miracle
Apparently, a specialist Finn and Bridget consulted agreed with their assessment. It was time to remove the ventilator. The family started talking directly to Eric to see how he would react. His eyes continued to move. When Finn and Bridget finally extubated Eric, his heart started racing. Immediately, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) grabbed Stephanie’s (Susan Flannery) Bible and started reading from it. And everything stopped for a moment. Then, Eric suddenly started breathing.
At Eric’s, RJ brought the photo albums out, complete with embarrassing baby pictures. He also played O Holy Night on the piano with the portrait of Eric over his shoulder. Meanwhile, those at the hospital waited for signs of improvement. Eric’s vitals got better, and he miraculously opened his eyes. Brooke welcomed him home.
Joy to the World
Finally, Brooke called Katie, Zende, RJ, and Luna — and Hope (Annika Noelle) and Thorne (Winsor Harmon) off-screen — and told them Eric was off the ventilator and his vitals were improving. Looks like they’ll have a Merry Christmas after all. They rejoiced and then broke out into a rendition of Joy to the World. Over at the hospital, Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) relayed to Eric that Finn was the one to heal him. Ridge said he tried to honor his wishes, but there was a way to save him. They had to take it. In response, Eric wished his family a Merry Christmas.
