“Silver Screen Calling: GH Spoilers Hint at Cameron Mathison’s Movie Deal and Drew Cain’s Departure”
General Hospital (GH) spoilers hint at some amazing news for Cameron Mathison, who plays Drew Cain on the soap opera.
According to Deadline, the actor has signed a multi-film contract with Great American Media, which will have him starring in a number of projects over the next several years. Great news for Cameron, but is it good news for GH?
After all, this sounds like a long-term commitment. Should fans be worried that Drew Cain – or simply just Cameron Mathison – may exit storylines in the near future?
General Hospital Spoilers – The Juggling In Real
While there’s no official word yet on whether or not Cameron would leave his Port Charles duties, the truth is, Mathison is no stranger to juggling both movies and soap opera work.
He entered the Drew Cain role in 2021, yet still was a part of Hallmark Channel and Great American Family (GAF) Channel TV movies.
In 2021, he began the Hannah Swensen Mysteries series, along with fellow daytime drama alum, Alison Sweeney (Days Sami Brady). In that same year, GAF released A Kindhearted Christmas in which Mathison played Scott Morris, and in 2022 he played Dylan in A Merry Christmas Wish.
GH Spoilers – No Official Word Yet …
Still, the current deal he has signed seems far more intense than past work. With actor Roger Howarth (ex-Austin Gatlin-Holt) recently leaving the soap, GH fans can’t help but worry that Drew may suffer the same fate. Plus, Cameron Mathison hasn’t exactly addressed whether or not he’s gearing up to pull double duty on GH and Great American, so this isn’t the best sign that he’s planning on staying.
Still, there’s a very good chance that Drew Cain could be recast, and as Cameron moves on to other projects perhaps another actor will swoop in and take his place. Only time will tell.
