“Saying Goodbye to Zakary Risinger on GENERAL HOSPITAL: A Bittersweet Farewell”

Last week’s addition of GENERAL HOSPITAL newcomer Asher Jared Antonyzyn to the cast as a recast of Danny Morgan signaled the end of Zakary Risinger’s run as Sam and Jason’s son.

“The cat is out of the bag,” Riskinger’s mother, Heather, wrote on his parent-run Instagram page. “We have known about this for some time and would like to express deep gratitude for the opportunity to play Danny, even for a short time.”

The 14-year-old Risinger, who has been acting since he was a baby, made his debut on Nov. 24, 2021. “This opportunity came for Zakary at a time that was so wonderful for him,” his mom continued. “Zak is flooded with opportunity right now and there is no sadness.”

Based on his mom’s post, it sounds as if Risinger is taking the news of his recast like the seasoned showbiz professional that he is — even if he is just a teenager! “He has worked all 14 years of his life and understands sometimes things have to change or aren’t a fit,” Heather said. “He is incredibly grateful to be even a small part of the rich history that is GH.”

In passing the torch as the legacy Port Charles character, Risinger and his mom wished Antonyzyn the best of luck as he puts his own mark on Danny Morgan. “We are very excited to see his replacement shine and hope you all will be as kind to him as you have been to us!” the young star’s mom concluded. “Thank you.”

In an Instagram story that accompanied his post, Risinger wrote, “Thank you, GH, for the amazing experience!” adding that he would be “forever grateful” to casting director Mark Teschner and his team for casting him back in 2021.

We wish Risinger the best in the future, and we’re sure we will see him on the screen again very soon!
